The Dutch playmaker has been out of action since sustaining a muscular problem while warming up for the Serie A clash with Cagliari on November 11.
Sneijder had been expected to return to action earlier this month, but he remains on the sidelines and will play no part in Wednesday s meeting with Lecce, Inter s final outing before the winter break.
But despite mounting concerns about the severity of the injury, Sneijder insists that he will soon be back in action.
Today you will play the last game of 2011 and I unfortunately will not be there, Sneijder wrote on his Twitter page. But certainly I will return to play in January!

The handheld gaming market has flourished to an almost unexpected degree in the last several years, and though the Nintendo Switch has been primarily responsible for that, we’re beginning to see signs of others entering (or re-entering) the space as well. Valve has, of course, been making waves with the Steam Deck for a while now, while Microsoft is also confirmed to be in the early stages of developing a portable Xbox. Now, it’s being reported that Sony is working on a new handheld as well.
That’s as per a Bloomberg report, which claims that Sony is currently in the early stages of working on a portable device that will be able to natively run PS5 games. The device is meant to compete against the Nintendo Switch, or any potential handheld that Xbox rel…
Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill is aiming to spring a surprise against world champions Germany at Euro 2016, four years on from being an imposter on a German fans bus.
Supporters of Joachim Low s side will now undoubtedly be aware of O’Neill’s exploits in leading Northern Ireland to their first major tournament since the 1986 World Cup ahead of Tuesday’s concluding Group C clash in Paris.
But the former Shamrock Rovers boss revealed a group of Germany fans were left Googling him to back up his claims of international management when some private travel plans at Euro 2012 ran into trouble.
Me and a friend hired a car in Poland, O Neill explained. We flew from Belfast to Krakow and that was a great base for us. But we signed an insurance waiver at…
Rio Ferdinand is set to miss the chance to come face to face with John Terry when QPR host Chelsea on Sunday.
The pair have not met in a competitive fixture since Ferdinand branded Terry the biggest idiot in his autobiography, published in October last year.
Ferdinand s comments came in response to Terry s conduct in the aftermath of allegations the Chelsea captain racially abused brother Anton Ferdinand then of QPR during a top-flight clash in October 2011.
Terry was eventually cleared of any offence by a magistrates court, but was served with a four-game ban and a £220,000 fine by the Football Association.
Ferdinand is likely to miss this weekend s west London derby with a niggling injury, but QPR boss Chris Ramsey expects Terry to receive a frosty rec…
