Celta Vigo 2 Sevilla 2 (2-6 agg): Aspas brace in vain as Emery´s men reach final

Sevilla reached their first Copa del Rey final since 2010 following a 2-2 second-leg draw with Celta Vigo in a helter-skelter semi-final at Balaidos.

Going into the meeting with a four-goal lead from the first leg, Sevilla were always hot favourites to set up a final showdown against holders Barcelona, but found themselves 2-0 down just after half-time thanks to a brace from their former striker Iago Aspas.

Ever Banega s effort left Celta needing to score four more goals in the final half-hour, however, and, when John Guidetti missed a penalty moments later, home hopes subsided. Yevhen Konoplyanka tapped home a late equaliser for the visitors.

Napoli increase bid for Gonalons

Serie A side Napoli have raised their bid for Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons, reports Radio Monte Carlo.

The France international is one of the most sought-after players in Europe at the moment and he is widely tipped to leave his current employers in the summer transfer window.

While Arsenal and Roma are also showing interest, it looks as though Napoli are leading the chase for the highly rated footballer at the moment.

After having a €10 million bid rejected by Lyon chiefs, the Azzurri have raised their offer to €11 million, hoping to finally win the race for the player s signature.

Maxime Gonalons has been making giants strides ever since he was handed a debut during the 2009/2010 season and he was even handed the captain s armband last season.

PSG didn´t respect my true worth – Tottenham new boy Aurier

Serge Aurier claims he was the most influential defender in Ligue 1 before leaving Paris Saint-Germain to join Tottenham, and says the French club did not respect his true worth .

Aurier was a controversial figure at the Parc des Princes, most recently receiving a suspended two-month jail sentence for assaulting a police officer outside a Paris nightclub.

But the Ivory Coast international, who joined Spurs in a deadline-day deal, insists too much is made of his off-the-field conduct.

I wanted a new life because PSG didn t respect my true worth, Aurier said ahead of his potential Premier League debut against Everton on Saturday. They dwelt on other matters beside football.

Statistically speaking, I am the most influential defender in Ligue 1 between 2…

CAS reduce Platini ban

Michel Platini s suspension from performing any football-related activity has been reduced from six years to four, the Court of Arbitration for Sport has announced.

Frenchman Platini, who continues to deny any wrongdoing, has been in Lausanne to contest his sanction, which was related to a $2 million (£1.3m)  disloyal payment made by then FIFA chief Sepp Blatter in 2011.

The original eight-year ban was reduced to six by a FIFA appeals panel with Platini taking his case to CAS in February.

In their ruling, CAS also reduced his fine from CHF 80,000 to CHF 60,000, but maintained he was right to be punished and had taken into account the absence of any repentance and the impact on FIFA s reputation.

CAS said its three-man panel had unanimously determine…

Arsenal´s Joel Campbell returns to Real Betis on loan

Arsenal forward Joel Campbell is happy and proud to be back at Real Betis after re-joining his former club on a season-long loan.

The Costa Rica international scored two goals in 28 appearances for the Liga side in 2012-13, one of several stints away from the Emirates.

Further loan spells with Olympiacos, Villarreal and Sporting CP have failed to convince Arsene Wenger of his suitability for a first-team spot at Arsenal with the 25-year-old again deemed surplus to requirements.

Campbell, whose contract expires at the end of the season, becomes the second Arsenal player to re-join a Spanish club on deadline day following Lucas Perez s return to Deportivo La Coruna on loan.

Angel delight – Di Maria ´a gift´ for Paris Saint-Germain´s Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel said that coaching Angel Di Maria is a gift following Paris Saint-Germain s 3-0 victory over Nice in Ligue 1.

Neymar s brace and a goal from Christopher Nkunku were enough to secure an eighth successive Ligue 1 win for PSG, who are now nine points clear at the top.

Neymar and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting also had goals disallowed for offside, but it was Di Maria who also hit the woodwork who drew praise from Tuchel.

I like Di Maria a lot, he is so gifted, Tuchel said of the Argentine, who was impressive as part of a three-man forward line alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

I watched him play with Real Madrid and for me I could not believe I could train him at some point back then.

Now he is my player, it s a gift for me. It s easy…

McInnes to remain at Aberdeen despite links to Rangers, West Brom

Derek McInnes has no intention of leaving Aberdeen for Rangers or West Brom as he has unfinished business with the Scottish club, according to chairman Stewart Milne.

Scotsman McInnes – who took charge at Pittodrie in 2013 has been strongly linked with the current vacancies at two clubs he represented during his playing career.

Rangers are yet to appoint a new manager since parting ways with Pedro Caixinha last month, while West Brom sacked Tony Pulis on Monday following an 11-game winless run.

However, McInnes has reassured Milne that he remains committed to his current employers and is determined to win further silverware after steering Aberdeen to the 2014 Scottish League Cup.

Derek made his feelings very clear to me last night during one of ou…

City deserved penalty at Stoke, insists Stones

Manchester City defender John Stones insists that the debatable penalty awarded to Nicolas Otamendi against Stoke City was the correct decision.

Pep Guardiola s side ran out 4-1 winners at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday, with Sergio Aguero and Nolito each scoring twice, though the game was marked by three controversial decisions from referee Mike Dean.

City were awarded a spot-kick on 27 minutes when Ryan Shawcross was penalised for holding the arm of Otamendi, while Stoke were awarded their own penalty just after the break after Raheem Sterling tried to block Shawcross run towards a high ball.

The home fans also felt aggrieved that a clumsy challenge from Aleksandar Kolarov on Joe Allen went unpunished late in the first half, allowing City to take a 2-0 lead in…
